Predictions for Day Three of the 2015 Class 2 District 7 Tournament

We’re to the semifinals, and it will be a pair of girls games tonight.

No. 4 Westran vs. No. 1 Harrisburg (6 p.m. tip-off): Harrisburg hasn’t played since last Tuesday, and a coach can look at that one of two ways. First, the extra rest would be nice, and with a few banged-up players, it was some much needed down time for Harrisburg. However, sometimes a layoff can throw off a team’s rhythm. Well, we will find out tonight. In the end, I think Harrisburg’s experience wins out and puts the Lady Bulldogs back in the title game. Prediction: Harrisburg 63, Westran 49.

No. 3 New Franklin vs. No. 2 Sweet Springs (7:30 p.m. tip-off): This ought to be one heck of a game. Sweet Springs has definitely earned this seed, and as I look back at their schedule, that 4-point loss to Santa Fe looks really impressive. And with only eight players, the Lady Greyhounds have won 17 games this season. However, New Franklin is definitely playing its best basketball of the season. The Lady Bulldogs have won seven of their last eight. And c’mon, who doesn’t want to see a rematch of last year’s district championship game? Prediction: New Franklin 46, Sweet Springs 44.

I’m about to head out the door to Salisbury, so I’ll make some quick predictions for the Class 1 District 10 semifinals in Glasgow.

Girls: Glasgow 44, Tina-Avalon 36

Boys: Glasgow 68, Higbee 43
